A copywriter uses persuasive writing to pique the interest of target audiences and guide them through the sales process. Projects include everything from website copy and product descriptions to video scripts and radio jingles. You can see some of my services here. Copywriters help businesses grow awareness of their brand and increase sales.
This is a hotly disputed topic because there’s so much crossover. But here’s my take on it. Copywriting focuses on motivating the reader to take a specific action related to the sales process – call this number, email us, sign up for our newsletter and so on.
Content writing is less focused on sales. The main goal is to inform, educate and entertain the target audience so they develop an affinity for the brand.
Both play an essential role in the sales funnel.
People can’t buy from you if they don’t know you exist.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is all about making your website easier to find on search engines like Google, without paying for ads. The higher your website ranks in the organic results, the more traffic you’ll get to your site. Voila!
This depends on their level of experience, whether they have a good working knowledge of SEO, specialism, and other factors.
The trick to ensuring you’re getting value for your spend is to be fully aware of what you’re paying for.
If you’ve engaged a complete noob with no relevant qualifications or writing experience, you’d expect their rate to reflect that.
But if you’re working with a celebrity copywriter who’s been at it for years and has the mind-blowing global portfolio to prove it, you’ll need a very healthy budget.
TOP TIP: Always ask if any part of your project will be outsourced. If it will be, find out who to and what their level of expertise is.
Absolutely none. Literally anyone can call themselves a copywriter (isn’t that scary?!) But fear not, you’re in safe hands with me. I’ve got a masters degree in journalism, several industry qualifications, and I’ve also completed a highly-regarded SEO course.
I include two free rounds of amends with my work. Any further changes are charged at an hourly rate as set out in my terms and conditions.
It’s all thanks to my fabulous process (read about it here) and a collaborative approach to the project.
To kick things off, you’ll fill in a detailed brief telling me exactly what you want from the copy and guiding me in terms of tone and style.
Then, when we do our interview, I record and transcribe the conversation to ensure I don’t miss anything.
The first draft of the copy is a simple skeleton draft. It includes bullet points of all the information you’ve told me you want to include and it’s presented in the right order.
Once you see this version in black and white, you can let me know of any changes you want to make.
Then I create the second draft and you get another opportunity to make adjustments.
Once those have been made, it’s time to sign off on the final draft.
Sometimes projects evolve, and if yours is one of them, that’s cool. Out of scope work is charged at an hourly rate (details are in my terms and conditions).

A sales funnel is a model of the steps your target audience take as they become customers. It starts with brand discovery at the top and ends with final purchase at the bottom.
Yes - unless your project is under $1000, in which case you’ll have to pay in full. See my terms and conditions for more info.
I’d love to hear all about your project. Please send me an email including as much relevant info as possible including your budget (if you have one) and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
